PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a highly precise processing without being affected by the layout state of an original in an image processor removing an underlying component of the original.

SOLUTION: A histogram underlying detection processing part 310 performs an underlying detection processing from a top end of a reading range so as to detect the top end of the original. When the top end is detected, top end real time detecting parts 320 and 330 start the processing. Thus, the underlying detection processing is substantially performed on only image data in an original range. Real time underlying removal processing parts 420 and 430 perform an underlying removal processing at an underlying removal level corresponding to underlying detection amounts DTR and DTRa obtained by the underlying detection processing of the corresponding top end real time detecting parts 320 and 330. A switch output part 480 outputs a processing result of a histogram underlying removal processing part 410 until the original top end is detected. When the original top end is detected, the processing result of either the real time underlying removal processing part 420 or 430 is outputted.
