<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate main body, a light guide plate, a backlight, and a liquid crystal display device with simple structure and small number of components, easy to manufacture with reduced cost, capable of sufficiently irradiating the light within an angle effective for display against the display surface of a liquid crystal element. <P>SOLUTION: The light guide plate main body 70 has a light emitting face 51 and a bottom face 52 facing a light emitting face 51, and grooves and/or protrusions 23 having triangular cross section are formed on the bottom face 52.
