PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding part in which the slidability of a sliding portion is increased and the wear resistance and fatigue resistance of the other portions are increased by a gas nitrocarburizing treatment and a method of manufacturing the sliding part. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the sliding part comprises a step for forming a lead bronze alloy layer 3 functioning as the sliding portion 30a on the first surface 9 of a steel member 1, a step for forming a coated layer 4 on the lead bronze alloy layer, a step for gas nitrocarburizing treatment of the second surface 11 of the steel member not covered by the lead bronze alloy layer 3, and a step for removing the coated layer 4.
