PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection apparatus 1 capable of reducing the useless supply of fuel by an electric type low pressure pump 5 and reducing the power consumption of an electric motor for driving the low pressure pump 5. SOLUTION: A control means 6 of the fuel injection apparatus 1 controls the supply quantity of fuel by the low pressure pump 5 by adjusting the current flowing quantity to the electric motor 3 according to a detection signal from a common rail pressure detecting means 8. The power consumption of the electric motor 3 for driving the low pressure pump 5 can thereby be adjusted according to a force-feed quantity by a high pressure pump 2. As a result, power consumption at the electric motor 3 can be reduced, and the useless supply of fuel by the low pressure pump 5 can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
