PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ferrocene derivative having an acene and provide a method for introducing an objective substituent. SOLUTION: The phosphaferrocene derivative (1a) is prepared by reacting a metallacyclopentadiene derivative (2a) with a phosphine (3) to obtain an intermediate (4a), reacting the intermediate with a reducing agent to obtain a reaction mixture, subsequently reacting the reaction mixture with an iron salt. In the formula, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6and A are the same or different and express each a hydrocarbon group or the like; X1and X2express each an eliminable group; L1and L2express each a ligand; M expresses a transition metal.
