PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the leakage of pyrolyzed gas from a sealing part in early stages, prevent the diffusion of leaking pyrolyzed gas and stop the leakage of the pyrolyzed gas in early stages. SOLUTION: Any of CO gas sensors 20, 21 is arranged for detecting CO in the pyrolyzed gas leaking from each of the sealing parts 4, 6. When a detection signal is received from any of the CO gas sensors 20, 21, an alarm signal is sent from an alarm device 22, the amount of the gas to be discharged from the equipment of an exhaust system such as an exhaust blower 25 and an exhaust dumper 26 is increased and a rotary furnace 1 is operated under reduced pressure. The pyrolyzed gas leaking from any of the sealing parts 4, 6 is collected by any of collection ducts 31, 32 and the collected pyrolyzed gas is introduced into a pyrolyzed gas burning furnace 15 through a pipeline 33 and a sucking means 34 and burned/purified.
