PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify or eliminate a cooling device in a flow fractionation method for a pyrolysis residue produced by pyrolyzing a waste and its apparatus. SOLUTION: In the flow fractionation method for the pyrolysis residue comprising the steps of cooling the pyrolysis residue a produced by pyrolyzing the waste, jetting air to a mixture layer in which a fluidizing medium is mixed to the cooled pyrolysis residue to form a flowing layer and fractionating by weight the pyrolysis residue, an inert gas is jetted to the flowing layer in addition to air (37) and the mixture gas of air and inert gas is sucked from an upper part of the flowing layer to remove dust (7) and perform heat exchange (36). Thereafter, oxidation of the pyrolysis residue in the flowing layer is suppressed by again jetting it into the flowing layer.
