METHOD OF TRANSFERRING GENE INTO EMBRYONIC STEM CELL

It is intended to provide a method of transferring a gene into an ES cell which involves the step of brining a paramyxo virus vector into contact with a mammalian ES cell. It is also intended to provide a method of producing an ES cell carrying a foreign gene transferred thereinto which involves the step of brining a paramyxo virus vector carrying the above gene into contact with an ES cell. It is also intended to provide an ES cell carrying a foreign gene transferred thereinto which is produced by the above method and a cell and a tissue obtained by the differentiation and/or proliferation thereof. Thus, it becomes possible to stably and efficiently transfer a gene into an ES cell. Gene transfer into an ES cell is useful in embryological studies, disease studies, clinical application, experimental models and so on. Moreover, it is useful in assaying and screening a gene or a reagent for specific differentiation into a tissue or a cell which is useful in obtaining a desired cell or tissue differentiated from an ES cell.
