<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a payment management method and a payment management system capable of accomplishing both of safety and convenience in use of a cash card when the safety of a payment terminal device such as an ATM is reinforced by means of an IC card and biometrics authentication. <P>SOLUTION: In a host computer, a payment limit which is applied when authentication is carried out according to read information from a magnetic stripe is registered previously. When a payment request is made from an IC card-ready ATM, no payment limit is put because the information is read from the IC chip. When the payment request is made from a non-IC card-ready ATM, an amount of payment is limited within the payment limit because the information is read from the magnetic stripe. When biometrics authentication using the IC card is carried out at the ATM, information recognizing the completion/incompletion of biometrics authentication is transmitted to the host computer from the ATM, and it is determined whether the payment limit is applied or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
