PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the output of an unsuitable image stored in a storage device without lowering productivity in an image processing apparatus for executing prescribed processing that uses image data, such as a copying machine, a printer and a scanner. SOLUTION: Whether the setting of "erasure execution of a frame memory" is permitted is confirmed (step S15). If permitted (Y of step S15), whether the setting is to perform erasure before starting data transfer is confirmed (step S16). Unless the setting is performed (N of step S16), data transfer is started as it is (step S19). If the setting is performed (Y of step S16), when a prescribed condition is satisfied (Y of step S17), data of the frame memory are erased (step S18) and the data transfer of the frame memory is subsequently started (step S19).
