PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform a measuring work without referring to a catalog or the like in measurement of a belt tension. SOLUTION: The model number, belt width and span length of the belt B to be measured are input by use of an input part 12. The unit masses of belts corresponding to model numbers of belts are preliminarily recorded in a storage part 16, and the belt unit mass corresponding to the input model number is obtained. An impact force is applied to the belt B to vibrate it. The fluctuation of sound pressure by the vibration of the belt B is detected by a microphone 21, and the natural frequency of the belt B is extracted in a frequency analysis part 14. The tension of the belt is calculated from the measured natural frequency, the belt width, the span length and the unit mass obtained from the storage part 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
