PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a trace of ink from being thermally transferred to a printing paper due to the preheating of heating elements of a thermal head and make it possible to form an image with high added value, in an imaging device which thermally transfers the ink of an ink film to the printing paper and thereby, forms an image by driving the heating elements of the thermal head. SOLUTION: The imaging device has the thermal head 1 with a plurality of the linearly arranged heating elements 2 and forms the image by transferring an ink of a specified color applied to the ink film to the printing paper by heat generated through driving the heating elements 2 of the thermal head 1. In addition, the device has drive control means (30 to 34), each of which is equipped with an added information buffer 32 with a memory capacity equivalent to the size of a printable region of the printing paper for storing various kinds of the pieces of added information. Further, the drive control means (30 to 34) drive the heating elements 2 of the thermal head 1 based on signals of various kinds of the pieces of added information stored in the added information buffer 32.
