An apparatus (10) and method for rapid fluid venting that includes a burst seal (14) disposed in a venting aperture (12). The burst seal (14) seals the venting aperture (12) so that fluid flow therethrough is not enabled. A piston (16) defining at least one piston aperture (26) therethrough, the piston (16) being movably disposed proximate the burst seal (14). At least one actuator (18), actuatable between a first configuration and a second configuration. The actuator (18) is engaged with the piston (16) such that when the actuator (18) actuates from the first configuration to the second configuration, the actuator (18) impels the piston (16) so that the piston (16) ruptures the burst seal (14). With the burst seal (14) ruptured, the piston aperture (26) and the venting aperture (12) are in communication so as to enable fluid flow through the venting aperture (12) and the piston aperture (26).
