<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally establishes a beacon signal receiving cycle, according to the application type and/or communication property (e.g. communication pattern or communication condition or the like) in a terminal station. <P>SOLUTION: A wireless communication system (1) determines, based on a beacon signal periodically transmitted from a base station (10), a terminal station (30) from the base station (10), and uses a beacon signal to notify the determined terminal station (30) as to whether there exists data to be transmitted to the terminal station (30) and of the transmission period of the next beacon signal. A terminal side radio communication part (36) of the terminal station (30) transmits to the base station (10) a request of establishing the transmission period of the beacon signal. A communication control part (15) of the base station (10) establishes, based on the request received from the terminal station (30), the transmission period of the beacon signal. In this way, the terminal station (30) can optimize its beacon reception period, so that the power consumption can be suppressed by turning off the power supply from a power supply part (43) to a communication circuit (40), until the timing of receiving the beacon signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
