POLYELECTROLYTE AND PROTON-CONDUCTIVE FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polyelectrolyte comprising a sulfo-containing polymer and showing high proton conductivity over an extensive temperature and humidity range, and being excellent in hot-water resistance and chemical stability and to provide a proton-conductive film comprising the polyelectrolyte.

SOLUTION: The polyelectrolyte comprises a polymer comprising structural units represented by formula (1a) or (1b) (wherein A is a divalent electron-attracting group; B is a divalent electron-donating group or a direct bond; Ar is an aromatic group; Z is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; X is a hydrogen atom or a fluorine atom; j is an integer of 1 or greater; k is an integer of 1 to 4; l is an integer of 0 to 10; m is an integer of 1 to 10; and n is an integer of 1 to 8).
