PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplexing system capable of carrying out optical communication without giving effect on remaining normal wavelengths when input power to an optical amplifier is suddenly changed.
SOLUTION: A power supply interruption delay means 15 for delaying interruption of a voltage is provided to the midway of a power line through which power is supplied to an optical module 14 of transponder sections 16 with different wavelengths. The power supply interruption delay means 15 provides a different delay of power supply interruption by each wavelength. The length of delay is selected to a degree of time required for an AMP section switched from an ALC mode into an AGC mode or greater. Then even when a power supply supplying power to a plurality of the transponder sections 16 is faulty and outputs of many wavelengths are stopped at a time, since the output of an actual optical signal slowly stops one by one wavelength each, the operation of the AMP section sufficiently catches up with the output stop and it is prevented that an adverse effect is given onto the wavelengths whose output is not stopped due to occurrence of a nonlinear effect resulting from a far greater power level of the optical signal.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
