PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform speech recognition processing while changing over a word information area to be referred to from two or more language information with priority by changing over the sequence of the language to be referred to according to a paper size selected by an operator.

SOLUTION: When a CPU of a controller part judges that there is paper size change for changing a transfer paper size according to an instruction from a control panel, the CPU 503 performs change-over control reference sequence of a language area in RAM 505 to be referred to at the time of recognition according to the change-over output.
