摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize particulate matter (PM) purification by compensating deviation between an estimated deposit amount and an actual deposit amount in burning PM deposited in an exhaust emission control device for an engine. <P>SOLUTION: When the estimated deposit amount of PM is PMsm&le;BUpm (Yes in S122), a correction execution reference value Dp is obtained from a correction execution reference value map MAPdp(GA) (S126) to determine the value of exhaust pressure difference &Delta;P/GA (S128). In the case of &Delta;P/GA&ge;Dp (Yes in S128), a state of having deviation between the estimated deposit amount PMsm and the actual deposit amount is determined, and PMsm is increase-corrected with an increase correction amount PMadd (S132) obtained from an increase correction amount map MAPadd(&Delta;P/GA) (S134). The estimated deposit amount PMsm can thus be brought close to or coincide with the actual deposit amount with high accuracy.
