INSPECTION DEVICE AND ADJUSTMENT DEVICE FOR RELATIVE HEIGHT OF RECORDING HEAD, AND INSPECTING METHOD AND ADJUSTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method capable of accurately inspecting and adjusting a relative height of a recording head in a short time. SOLUTION: This inspection device for the relative height of the recording head includes; a recording control section for recording a signal by only the 1st recording head during a 1st period while a magnetic tape runs at a 1st tape speed and recording the signal by the 1st and 2nd recording heads during a succeeded 2nd period; and an inspecting section for the relative height of the recording head for reproducing a signal of a recording track recorded by the 1st recording head during the 1st and 2nd periods while the magnetic tape runs at a 2nd tape speed, and from this reproduced signal, measuring the time to a track center of the first recording track during the 2nd period from the track center of the last recording track during the 1st period to figure out the relative height of the 1st and 2nd recording heads on the basis of the measured time.
