PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To put a new type storage medium storage device into practical use by providing concrete and desirable structure of a driving means for rotating a rotation holder by each predetermined angle. SOLUTION: The storage medium storage device is provided with: the rotation holder 33 in which a plurality of storage medium storage parts are arranged around a central axis 32 at predetermined angle intervals in a circumferential direction, the storage medium storage part in which a storage medium is inserted from the front side and stored; a plurality of engaging projection parts 61c provided projectingly at predetermined angle intervals in the circumferential direction in accordance with the storage medium storage part in a rear end face of the rotation holder; a movable member 63 movably arranged along the inside of a plane orthogonal to its central axis on the rear end side of the rotation holder; an engagement pawl 66 provided in a retractable manner to/from the movable member; an elastic member 68 which constantly energizes the engagement pawl at a state that it is projected from the movable member; and an actuator which selectively transfers the movable member in an approximating direction or separating direction with respect to the rotation holder.
