PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for a paper sheet handling device, capable of flexibly corresponding to the differences in mounted circumstances, and a cassette for paper sheets, capable of diverting between paper sheets handling devices which are different in handling of stored paper sheets. SOLUTION: Slide rails 501 and 502 for respectively pulling out an upper unit 300 and a lower unit 200 are arranged on both sides in a strongbox. The upper unit 300 is mounted on a base 401 supported by the slide rail 501. A stopper 402 is mounted on the front side of the base 401, and a lock 403 for fixing at a suitable position is mounted on the rear side of the lower unit 300. The lower unit 200 is pulled out to its rear side only by the stopper 402. The paper money cassette 210 is mounted on and removed, by moving it to in the vertical directions.
