The equipment has a grilling grate (1) whose height is continuously adjusted with a crank (8) through a sprocket wheel (4) having a blocking latch (10) and a rack (3). The grate is moved across a guide (5) through a coal trough (2). Distance between the grate and a material to be grilled is increased or decreased with only few rotations of the crank. The rack is moved upward and downward through the wheel.
