<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver capable of reducing computational complexity of maximum likelihood sequence estimation for demodulating a received signal. <P>SOLUTION: A code division multiple access (CDMA) signal wherein a plurality of user signals are multiplexed using different spreading codes, is received and a transmission response received by each user signal included in the received CDMA signal is estimated for each spreading code corresponding to each user signal. The plurality of user signals included in the received CDMA signal are then divided into a plurality of groups, a plurality of states for each group generated by combining a plurality of information symbols corresponding to the respective user signals in the groups are used to estimate a maximum-likelihood sequence for each group, and the plurality of user signals are demodulated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
