<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the deformation of a thick steel plate capable of estimating the deformation with high accuracy without performing complicated theoretical calculation, and a thick steel plate manufacturing method capable of setting the deformation within a permissible value by performing the additional determination of subsequent steps based on the estimated deformation of the steel plate. <P>SOLUTION: The method for estimating the deformation of the thick steel plate comprises a step of measuring the temperature distribution in the width direction of the hot-rolled thick steel plate, a step of obtaining the evaluation index by multiplying the temperature difference from the reference temperature point of the temperature distribution in the plate width direction by the distance, and adding the products, and a step of estimating the deformation of the thick steel plate based on the evaluation index.
