PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image movement compensation device which allows photographing with unsightliness suppressed, by providing a wide camera shake compensation range in the case of a long exposure time requiring a high camera shake compensation effect in a movie or a DSC and narrowing a camera shake compensation range in the case of a short exposure time lessening the influence of degradation of an image caused by camera shake, to restrict movement to a compensation range peripheral part where degradation of the peripheral light quantity and resolution are conspicuous. SOLUTION: A compensation range of a movement compensation means 2 is restricted in accordance with an exposure time of a shutter 3, which is determined by a photographic image processing means 5 and an exposure time control means 10, by an output from a movement detection means 7 with respect to a movement compensation extent determined by a movement compensation extent determination means 8, so that photographing with unsightliness of photographic images suppressed is always possible.
