PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control color reproduction of color image output devices so as to match looks of colors without sense of incompatibility even in a gradation image with respect to an image represented by color image devices of different color reproduction ranges through comparatively simple calculation. SOLUTION: In a color space conversion section 301, a target color (RGB value) to be a reference of gamut compression is converted into a sense equal color space (CIELab). In a target color calculation section 303, a target color corresponding to a hue (H) and a saturation degree (chromaticity) C of an input color is calculated, and input color data and target color data are sent to a gamut compression section 305.
