PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nut runner and a control method thereof, reducing reaction generated in fastening from seating torque to target torque in the case of using a handy type power nut runner. SOLUTION: According to the control method of the nut runner, an object to be fastened is fastened from the seating torque T<SB>s</SB>when the object to be fastened is seated to the target torque T<SB>c</SB>at the completion of fastening the object to be fastened. The speed V<SB>Hn</SB>and the time t<SB>Hn</SB>in high speed-fastening operation and the speed V<SB>Ln</SB>and the time t<SB>Ln</SB>in high speed-fastening operation are controlled so that high-speed fastening operation and low-speed fastening operation are repeated between the seating torque Ts and the target torque Tc.
