The steam sterilizer (1) is assembled of a frame (6) holding a pressurized container (3) with a circular opening which can be positioned at the top or at the front as required by the space available. A lid (4), operated with a handle (7), is pressed against a sealing element accommodated in a groove at the container (3) and secured with several ring segments with longitudinal openings for projections protruding from the lower edge of an elastic ring.
