PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a small and lightweight planar motor, in which an appropriate bias flux can be imparted by clamping a bias magnet between cores, conventional yoke is eliminated and weight can easily be reduced at the operating section. SOLUTION: The plane motor comprises a platen having teeth formed at a predetermined pitch, and a motor block arranged in parallel with a plurality of cores provided with a plurality of salient poles each applied with a coil, wherein the motor block is arranged to move on the platen by exciting the coil. A permanent magnet for imparting bias flux in the direction of platen to the salient pole is clamped in between respective salient poles of two cores being paired, and the coil is wound around two salient poles clamping the permanent magnet.
