PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive contact image sensor module reading an image with high image quality, and also to provide an image reading apparatus provided with the contact image sensor module. SOLUTION: The contact image sensor is provided with: a first image sensor wherein a first light receiving element group is linearly arranged; a second image sensor wherein a second light receiving element group is arranged in parallel with the first light receiving element group and the width of the arrangement range of the second light receiving element group in the length direction differs from the width of the arrangement range of the first light emitting element group in the length direction, and whose resolution differs from that of the first image sensor; a first lens section for forming an image of a first object to the first light receiving element group; and a second lens section for forming an image of a second object to the second light receiving element group.
