摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that simply and precisely evaluates the strength appropriateness of an existing tunnel. SOLUTION: The strength evaluation method for a shield tunnel forms endless grooves 33 to a predetermined depth in wall portions 31 of an existing tunnel 3 to form island portions 2 in the wall portions 31 defined by the grooves 33, sets strain gauges 5 on the island portions 2, computes stresses developed in the island portions 2 from measurement results of strain, creates a structural analysis model Md of the tunnel 3, calculates stresses in portions of the model Md corresponding to the island portions, computes a differenceδαλk between the structurally calculated stressesσi calculated on the model Md and the stressesσcal computed from the measured strains, and combines coefficients of earth pressureα,λand k so as to minimize the differenceδαλk.
