PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new method of effective utilization of a water-absorptive polymer, and to increase braking force of a substance passing through the water-absorptive polymer. SOLUTION: Several kinds of water-absorptive polymers different in water absorbing capacity and water holding capacity are mixed and rendered to absorb water to form a mixture of a hard polymer and a softer polymer than the former due to the difference of absorbed amount of water. The same applies to a gelled water-absorptive polymer. A substance passing through the mixture increases in braking force based on the principle of pumping braking as the substance passes through polymers different in rigidity and other properties.
