PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stacker crane operating method for controlling the speed of a travelling truck to give a smooth speed change of the travelling truck to a travelling pattern of a basic trapezoidal acceleration curve at its speed change position. SOLUTION: The operating method for the travelling truck of stacker crane which has a platform elevatably arranged on a main mast erected on the travelling truck whose speed and stop position are controlled and a transfer machine mounted on the platform comprises controlling the travel of the travelling truck in the travelling pattern of the basic trapezoidal acceleration curve and controlling the speed of the travelling truck to give a radius to the travelling pattern at its speed change position.
