摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and cost of a compensator by sharing components being arranged for each wavelength in an optical transmission system employing a wavelength division multiplex system. <P>SOLUTION: The optical signal impairment compensator comprises a means 2 performing regulation related to impairment compensation of a plurality of signals having different wavelengths following to multiplication thereof, a means 3 for multiplexing the outputs from the plurality of means 2, a means 4 for compensating the impaired waveform of output from the means 3, a means 5 for selecting the component of any one of a plurality of wavelengths from a part of output from the means 4, and a means 6 for detecting the degree of signal impairment using the output from the means 5 and controlling the regulation of the means 2 corresponding to a selected waveform such that the degree of signal impairment is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
