PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing an industrially suitable (3R-5S)-7-substituted-3,5-dihydroxyhept-6-enoic acid ester from an amine salt of (3R,5S)-7-substituted-3,5-dihydroxyhept-6-enoic acid. SOLUTION: The method for producing (3R,5S)-7-substituted-3,5-dihydroxyhept-6-enoic acid ester comprises obtaining (3R,5S)-7-substituted-3,5-dihydroxyhept-6-enoic acid ester by reacting the amine salt of (3R,5S)-7-substituted-3,5-dihydroxyhept-6-enoic acid with an esterifying agent in a solvent in the presence of an acid.
