PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance detector capable of making a laser light low radiant power output accurately, when the luminescence power of a laser is made to be lowered to a prescribed range for ensuring the safety of human eyes. SOLUTION: A laser light reflected with a polygon mirror 4 is received with a photodetector 5b provided in the receiver part 5, the output of the photodetector 5b is amplified by an amplifier circuit 5b, and the pulse width of the output, after amplifications is detected with a pulse detector 5c. Then, the detection result in the pulse width detector 5c is fed back to a current controller 5a, and accordingly to the detection result, the current which the current controller 5a sends to the radiant part 2 is controlled.
