PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant detection device with miniaturized size for a vehicle. SOLUTION: The occupant detection device for the vehicle is an occupant detection device for a vehicle having a sensor 2; and an operation part 1 having an A/D converter 10, an operation means 11 and a power source 12. The device is characterized in that it has an excessive voltage protection means 13 provided with a voltage measurement means 130 for measuring a voltage of driving power from the power source 12; and a switch 131 for controlling feeding of the driving voltage when excessive voltage flows in the voltage measurement means 130 in the operation part 1. The occupant detection device for the vehicle becomes an occupant detection device for a vehicle in which safety of a circuit in the operation part is enhanced, safety to the occupant in a cabin is enhanced by suppressing firing and the sensor and the size of the whole device are miniaturized.
