A combustion engine is coupled to an electric generator, with a heat exchanger in the exhaust train. The engine and/or generator are provided with a heat pump for utilizing a temperature gradient between the power generator and the surroundings. In a summer operating mode, domestic water heating is achieved by operation of the heat pump, using environmental heat from the outside air.
