PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing hydrogen iodide and/or methyl iodide.

SOLUTION: In the manufacture of hydrogen iodide and/or methyl iodide from gaseous hydrogen and/or methane or hydrogen-containing gas and gaseous iodine, hydrogen iodide and/or methyl iodide is manufactured easily, efficiently and stably for a long period by using a catalyst formed by supporting one or more kinds of platinum group elements on an oxide and/or activated carbon.
