<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency and selectivity in conversion of a catalyst used to convert alkane, alkene and their mixture into corresponding oxygenated compounds. <P>SOLUTION: A modified metal oxide catalyst having more excellent characteristics than those of a corresponding unmodified metal catalyst.
