PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output-control device of an internal combustion engine to attain an elaborate output-control making use of shutdown of a cylinder without being restrained by the number of cylinders provided in the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The present device is provided with solenoid-operated intake-valves and solenoid-operated exhaust valves respectively operating intake valves and output valves by electromagnetic force. Setting of a ratio between the number of combustion execution and the number of combustion suspension is made so as to attain a prescribed target output (step 102). An output control pattern is established which comprises combustion-execution timing for execution of a prescribed number of combustions and combustion-suspension timing for a prescribed number of combustion-suspensions (steps 106, 114). Presence or absence of combustion execution is established for explosion timing sequentially arriving at respective cylinders in accordance with the output-control pattern (steps 108-112, 118-122).
