PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a high quality image is printed by suppressing the expansion of an fθlens due to heat which a control substrate for polygon motor generates. SOLUTION: In an optical scanner provided with a light source which emits a light beam, a rotating optical deflector 104 which has a plurality of deflection faces, an fθsystem optical element and an optical housing 111 which houses these components, the control substrate 104b for polygon motor equipped with a driver IC 104a is so composed to be fixed at an angle selected from two or more angles generated by rotating around the rotation axis of the polygon mirror 104a.
