摘要 <p>In a process to extend the shelf life of fresh fruit and vegetables, the harvested products are placed in a chilled container and cooled by water which may have been pre-filtered or sterilised. Water is then drained from the containers, and the containers are then chilled further. The chilled water is then atomised as a spray directed at the produce in the containers. The process of pumped water discharge from the containers is repeated as many times as required to reduce the bacterial count. The fruit and vegetables are washed to remove dust and dirt prior to placement in the chilled containers.</p>
