A assay device having a color changing material whose color changes to blue indicating the presence of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) in a test sample, when the test sample is passed into a nitrocellulose strip (10), is new. A HCG presence signal is generated in response to color change of the color changing material. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) assay performing method; and (2) test device.
