<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly fire alumina as a material to be fired with one kind of a heating element generating heat substantially equivalent to the material to be fired without additionally providing a heating means or a heating element even if a material having small microwave absorption at a low temperature such as alumina is the material to be fired. <P>SOLUTION: The heating element generating heat by the irradiation with microwave is formed from aggregate and an inorganic binder. The aggregate is an alumina particle and the inorganic binder contains Na<SB>2</SB>O component and is sodium silicate. The heating element also contains an inorganic fiber as a reinforcing fiber. The inorganic fiber is an alumina fiber or a mullite fiber. A coating material contains the aggregate, the inorganic binder, the inorganic fiber, water and a thickener. A refractory insulating material for the microwave firing furnace has a heat generating layer on one surface of a base material. The heat generating layer is formed from the coating material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
