PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which can quickly terminate the transient phenomena at power recovery in restart after power failure. SOLUTION: This power converter is composed of a power rectifying circuit 2 which is equipped with a switching element 21 for converting AC voltage into DC voltage, a control means 3 which controls the output of this power rectifying circuit 2, and an input voltage detector 4 which detects the input voltage of the power rectifying circuit 2. The control means 3 has a first monitoring means 14 which monitors the phase difference between the input voltage phase obtained from the input voltage detector 4 and the internal phase for control of the power rectifying circuit, and a phase control means 13 which controls the phases so that the phase difference may disappear.
