PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrous sintered alloy having excellent sliding properties and wear resistance and also having satisfactory machinability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The content of free graphite in the ferrous sintered alloy is controlled to≥0.3% to secure its satisfactory sliding properties. Further, the precipitating form of cementite is made into an insular shape having reduced influence on machinability, and the precipitating amount of cementite is controlled to 7 to 14% in the cross-sectional ratio of the structure, thus its wear resistance and machinability are improved. At the time of manufacturing the ferrous sintered alloy, atmospheric gas comprising, by volume, 20 to 60% carburizing gas, and the balance inert gas is used, and further, sintering temperature therefor is controlled to 1,000 to 1,100°C, thus the above precipitating form and precipitating amount of cementite can be securely obtained.
