<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst active carbon for decomposing hydrogen peroxide which can decompose a hydrogen peroxide regardless of the pH of a hydrogen peroxide-containing waste liquor, causes a very little elution of metals, and can be obtained inexpensively without using an inert gas or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The active carbon obtained by mixing a glassy irregular-shaped acrylonitrile copolymer melt, which is obtained by firing an acrylonitrile copolymer in an oxidizing atmosphere of 3% or higher oxygen concentration, as it is or after pulverizing it, with a binding agent such as a tar or a pitch and water, granulating it, then activating it with a gas, acts as a catalyst active carbon for decomposing hydrogen peroxide which decomposes a hydrogen peroxide regardless of the pH of the hydrogen peroxide-containing waste liquor and causes the very little elution of metals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
