<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a stable determination capability when determining an abnormal shade even with regard to data deviated from a learned range. <P>SOLUTION: Image information of a region of interest extracted from a medical image which is determined to be an abnormal shade and image information of a region of interest extracted from a medical image which is determined to be a normal shade are stored in advance. From a large number of feature quantities for determining whether a region of interest is in an abnormal shade class or in a normal shade class, a plurality of feature quantities are selected and combined to form a plurality of feature quantity sets. A separating plane H of a support vector machine for determining whether the region of interest is in the abnormal shade class or in the normal shade class is acquired using the plurality of feature quantity sets. A feature quantity set which maximizes a margin D between the separating plane H and a region of interest being determined is decided to be the most appropriate feature quantity set for determination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
