PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce influence of an auxiliary detection area at a low cost, in a magnetic proximity switch using a reed switch. SOLUTION: This magnetic proximity switch includes a case 1, the reed switch 2 fixed to the case 1 and a detection object magnet 4 installed separately outside the case 1, and contacts 2d of the reed switch 2 are brought into contact with and separated from each other in response to magnetic force changed depending on the position of the detection object magnet 4 and generated between the contacts 2d of the reed switch 2. One-side reed 2a of the reed switch 2 has a folded-back part 2e formed by extending it to the side opposite to the contacts 2d and folding it back, and the folded-back part 2e is provided with a plane Pa passing an end point P1 on the contact 2d side in the one-side reed 2a and perpendicular to the reed switch direction, and an intersection CS1.
